Endacea, Inc. - About
Us
Endacea, Inc., a development stage biopharmaceutical
company, is developing a proprietary series of highly
potent and highly selective A1 adenosine receptor antagonists.
The lead compound, L-97-1, is being developed for the
prevention and early treatment of asthma with a dual
mechanism of action: prevention of both bronchoconstriction
and inflammation. Endacea believes that this oral monotherapy will compete
favorably with current market leaders, reducing or eliminating
the need for inhaled steroids. Other indications for
L-97-1 or one of its analogs include allergic rhinitis,
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and congestive heart failure with impaired renal function.
In addition, Endacea has demonstrated proof of concept for L-97-1 as a treatment in an animal model of sepsis. The Company is developing an endotoxin assay as a biomarker for the early detection of patients at risk of sepsis.
In April 2006, Endacea licensed several patents relating to the use of P2X purinoceptor antagonists and A1 adenosine receptor antagonists to treat ischemia reperfusion injury to Medicure International, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Medicure, Inc. (AMEX: MCU). As a result of this license, Endacea received a $500,000 license fee and acquired a royalty interest in Medicure's lead compound, MC-1.
The Company is currently seeking licensees for its patents pertaining to the use of P2X purinoceptor antagonists to treat disorders resulting in fibrosis and sclerosis, including autoimmune diseases and inflammation (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis), HIV/AIDS, and other indications. In addition, Endacea is seeking one or more licensees for its patents and patent applications pertaining to the diagnosis, imaging, treatment, and prevention of cancer.
